Set in the hamlet of Chalbury, about 5.5 miles north of Wimborne Minster, the cottage has much character and charm and is presented in excellent decorative order throughout, with quality floor coverings.
The property was built in the 18th century as a small 2 bedroom home. It was substantially extended at the turn of the 20th century, and more recently, about 25 years ago. The original part of the cottage is of brick-faced cob, and the more modern extensions are of cavity construction. The roof is of natural slate with a brick chimney.
The ground floor features exposed timbers and brick walls. The sitting room has a floor-to-ceiling brick open fireplace with a bressummer beam and a wood burning stove, and there are 2 pairs of double glazed doors to the terrace and garden. The dining hall has stairs to the first floor, and the breakfast room leads into a large kitchen with an excellent range of modern units and built-in appliances. There is a separate utility room and a cloakroom.
There are 4 independent first floor bedrooms. The master bedroom enjoys a superb open country view, and there is a well presented bath/shower room.
Outside, there is a large integral garage and space to park 2 vehicles, and a 5-bar gate leading to a second shingle driveway with space to park a boat/caravan/motor home.
The garden is an outstanding feature, being enclosed by natural hedgerows and post-and-rail fencing. It is flat, particularly well maintained, and largely laid to lawn, with well stocked flower and shrub borders. There is climber against the front wall of the house, and a large fruit and vegetable garden area, along with 2 large workshops and garden sheds.
The Keep is connected to mains water, electricity and drainage and has an oil fired heating system.
